Goals and expectation

When I was much younger, life was much simpler and expectation in life was something that really did not bother me much.  All I wanted to do was to study to get good grades so that I could continue studying in a really prestigious school, and, then, a prestigious college.  However, in the place that I grew up, Thailand, there has always been a firm belief that only smart and bright students will study in the fields of medical, engineering, or nursing.  This belief would enable those who graduated from these fields of study to be of the elite groups.  They were the most desirable groups of people everyone wanted to hire.  Education, meanwhile, was always the last choice anyone would choose as a profession.  It was rather a tough field to be able to get any job after one graduated.

However, when I got a chance to come to study ESL in Boston just a few years back, there was a time that I had a chance to work with a non-profit organization called “Peace Revolution.”  This organization has been about teaching how to meditate online.  I have been working with them, ever since, for about three years now.  I have become one of the instructors of this organization.  And it is this very organization that made me think I was in need of much further studying.  It made me think that I must invest more time and energy to pursue the courses of school of education.  I started to believe that by studying in education, I would be able to reach out to others more effectively, and be able to work with others more effectively.  This belief made me think of Cambridge College.

I discovered that Cambridge College is open to people from all walks of life.  In the beginning, I thought of just merely finishing school and I would have enough knowledge and confidence to get on with my life.  In the beginning of my study in Cambridge College, most classes were fairly easy and straight forward to me.  However, after under taking the Independent Learning Project (ILP), the whole process has given me an insight look of the overall understanding of the Peace Revolution organization.  It made me understand all of the elements involved, be it the starting point of meditating, the setting up of the website for those who are interested in online meditation, and so forth.  These understanding have enabled me to better teach other people online of how to meditate.

Also, at Cambridge College, the class of Professional Seminar has helped me to apply the knowledge learned in the class to solve real problems in real life.  In the class, I have a chance to exchange experiences with many other classmates.  Some of them are real teachers with years of experiences.  They have all kinds of techniques and experiences to get problems solved.  By interacting with friends in the class, I have been able to adapt their acquired knowledge and apply to my real world situations.  This class taught me how to work as a team.  I did realize now that by working as a team, we will become both the speaker and the listener.  And in order to be good at it, we will also have to be a good speaker and a good listener as well.  In any situation, it will be best if we can work as a team.  And this is especially true in the case of my own work with the Peace Revolution organization.  It is true because I always have to work with people from all walks of life and from around the world.  In the end, in order to achieve the best result, any company or any organization must have a really good teamwork to propel them to the highest achievements.
